What about APC Internship made you interested to apply?
It made me interested because I was looking for ways to be involved not only on UCLA campus, but also in a community. I saw that the internship would help develop leadership and public speaking skills, which I lack the most. Figuring it can help me in these areas and also assist me in being active, I applied. Furthermore, I wanted to meet others who share the same passion as I do and create friendships that will expand my support system.
What do you enjoy about the internship so far?
I enjoy the fact that we are getting to know each other personally. While living in apartments for school years, I do not get the opportunity to meet individuals and be close to them. So this gives way to connect to someone. Also, I like how there are activities such as games and PowerPoint presentations that we do. It is not only fun, but it progresses us in learning.
What have you gained in internship so far?
I have gained that you can create an open space to discuss anything with anyone. Hence, I learned that your voice is important, whether it is suggesting an idea or speaking your views about a specific topic. Therefore, APC is significant since the organization raised its voice to fight for what is needed. Also, I learned that you cannot expect people to share similarities with you because we all have different backgrounds and culture. Nonetheless, we are all one (not that we are all Asian and should be labeled Asian as one identity), but one team who supports each other.
