APA Legal Center needs Poll Monitor Volunteers needed for June 5 Primary Election

This is a great volunteer opportunity for those interested in civic engagement work within the AANHPI community!
APALC’s Voting Rights team plans to conduct poll monitoring for the June 5 primary. We rely on volunteers for this effort.
The polls open at 7:00am, and we mainly need volunteers to monitor for the first couple of hours so that problems can fixed early on.

Translated election materials must be provided at targeted polls. Oral assistance must also be provided.
The covered Asian languages are Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Hindi, Khmer, and Thai.
This is the first time LA County will be providing translated materials in the last three languages.
We know the LA County Registrar’s office is trying to get everything in order, but with the new language requirements, there are bound to be slip ups.

If you’re interested or know someone who might be, just shoot an email to our Civic Engagement Coordinator, Rhommel Canare at rcanare@apalc.org.

Hope to see you there!
